The Pregnancy Help Center offers several Free Services and Support to benefit pregnant mothers and their families in the Brazoria County area. For over 30 years, the PHC has served more than 47,000 people. You do not have to go through the challenges of pregnancy or parenting alone. 

Our Free Services & Support Include:

Urine lab-quality pregnant test appointment to verify pregnancy and provide proof of pregnancy needed to apply for Medicaid.

SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT

Ultrasound is based on a medical evaluation by a medical professional after a positive pregnancy test to determine viability of pregnancy.

*Ultrasound scans are primarily used to confirm the presence of a viable, uterine pregnancy.  Therefore, it is not used to determine gender or diagnose abnormalities.  

What is viability?  This just means that under normal circumstances your pregnancy should continue to progress.

The PHC responds compassionately to the emotional, spiritual, and psychological distress that can be left behind by providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by a reproductive loss, such as miscarriage, stillbirth, adoption, SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), infertility, and sterility.
 
 
 

Spiritual and Emotional Recovery and Healing After an Abortion. PHC offers abortion recovery care and support in person as a 1-on-1 program or in a group setting.  Currently, groups are offered on Mondays from 12:30Pm-2:30pm.  

Private sessions are scheduled on a case-by-case basis (virtual is available for private sessions).  The PHC abortion recovery programs are intended to meet you right where you are spiritually.  Additional groups may be scheduled based on need and availability.

Diapers, wipes, baby apparel, formula, baby care items, and maternity clothing.

H.O.P.E. (Help Offered in a Pregnancy Experience) – 12-week program consisting of 16 classes.
L.I.F.E. (Learning and Improving Family Enrichment) – Car Seat Safety Class, What’s This Thing Called Parenting.

What Should I Expect?

You will be welcomed by one of our staff members who will walk you through the paperwork.  We ask that you bring a Photo ID as we will make a copy to keep with your paperwork.  Then, you will receive the following Free Services at your first appointment:

Medical

A licensed medical professional will administer a lab-quality urine pregnancy test and discuss your results as well as any medical questions you may have. At that point, she will determine whether you qualify for a limited ultrasound.

Education & Information

A client advocate will meet with you to discuss your plan and your options for your pregnancy. If you have not made a decision, she will educate you about all of your options and provide programs and resources offered by the PHC and/or other partners in the community.

Additionally, if you have brought your spouse, boyfriend, or a male friend, a male advocate will be available to help him understand his role, listen, offer advice, and talk through issues surrounding pregnancy.

Common Questions

The Pregnancy Help Center has a strict privacy and confidentiality policy. All clients are protected from disclosure of information that violates your privacy except where required by law. (Please contact the center if you have questions regarding this.) Additionally, scheduling an appointment at the PHC does not require parental consent.

We welcome you to bring your partner, a family member, or a friend. However, due to confidentiality, your support person will only be allowed to join you for certain portions of your appointment.  Your support person will also need to bring a photo ID as well .

We encourage you to make other arrangements for children but understand that is not always possible. You do not have to cancel or reschedule an appointment if you need to bring your child/children.

No, you do not need parental consent or to have a parent with you at your appointment.

The Pregnancy Help Center provides urine-based pregnancy tests free of charge. They are administered by a licensed medical provider. Results are provided quickly and in a private and confidential manner.

Yes. A pregnancy may be detected as early as 7-10 days after conception.  However, up to 25% of women naturally miscarry before they even know they are pregnant. 

The pregnancy hormone HCG doubles every 2-3 days during early pregnancy, so it is important that your test is confirmed by a licensed medical professional.
